Oligarchy- A government that is ruled by few.
Democratic-A form of government in which all eligible citizens have an equal say in the decisions that affect their lives.
Unitary-A form of government in which a central government operates all levels of government in a country. Cuba has a unitary government.
Autocratic-A system of government by one person with unlimited power.
Federal-A form of government in which power is divided between a central government and smaller divisions, such as states. Canada, Mexico, the United States, Brazil, and Venezuela all have federal governments.
Confederation-An organization that consists of a number of parties or groups united in an alliance or league.
Parlimentary- A type of democratic government where citizens elect MPs who choose a prime minister as chief executive. The United Kingdom has a parliamentary government.
European Union-A group of 27 European countries united to bring more advantages to members that might not be available to the smaller nations, the EU works to improve trade, education, farming and industry among the members.
Constitutional Monarchy-A
government in which the king or queen is head of state with little real power, as limited by a constitution.
Dialogue-A conversation between two or more people.
Prime Minister-The head of state in a parliamentary system of democracy, responsible for running the day-to-day operations of government.
Nationalism-The love of one’s country.
Socialism-A way of organizing a society in which major industries are owned and controlled by the government rather than by individual people and companies.
