Mexico's climate varies from location to location. The desert areas to the north remain very dry for most of the year. However, the tropical areas of Mexico, the beaches and coast, average more than 40 inches of rain a year. The Central Plateau of Mexico, where most people live, has arable (farmable) land and receives enough rain to grow a wide variety of crops.
