Germany has a marine climate. The Gulf Stream warms the region, keeping the land warm in the winter. The sea also cools the land in the summer. Precipitation provides enough moisture to the land to produce crops. The altitude of the Bavarian Alps create a different climate. The Alps are sometimes covered in deep snow in the winter. Eastern Germany has longer, colder winters and longer, hotter, and drier summers.
