Venezuela is located in the tropics, just north of the equator. Venezuela has a hot, tropical climate all year. Along the coast, it is relatively dry with only about 16 inches of rain a year. In higher elevations, such as the Andes Mountains, temperatures can fall to the freezing point. Annual rainfall in these higher elevations average over 100 inches a year.
